Corrosion of Conformity or COC have been an influential band since they released their first album Eye for and Eye in 1984. Some say that COC is sludge metal, some say that they are stoner metal, but I just consider them just kick ass rock and roll metal.

Lead singer Pepper Kennan’s voice is perfect blend with the guitarist Woody Weatherman and bassist Mike Dean. COC is a great band live, they just kill it. And off stage they are just a nice and humble as one can be.

Tonight they played what I would consider a shorter set, but still amazing none the less. Opening up with “Bottom Feeder”and right into “The Luddite”. The set wasn’t lacking all the songs that I have loved for years. My favorite album from COC has to be the 1996 album Wiseblood. I have heard of COC before this but this was the album that really got me into them and kept me a fan for life. Which they played “Long Whip/Big America”.

The favorite tunes didn’t stop there though, COC also played some of my other favorite tracks like “13 Angels” and ended the night with “Clean my Wounds”.Although I would have loved to hear some of the older tracks from the band. They played the songs since Pepper joined the band and in my opinion that was when COC had the sound and the right combination to make such an iconic band.

I have seen COC a few times in my life, starting back when I was in high school and seen them a few times after that. It had been a while since I had seen them though, but they didn’t miss a beat. I would have loved a longer set, and was sad that drummer Reed Mullin. Just hope that he is doing well. But overall the show was amazing and this is the band to go see if you’re into just some kick ass rock metal.
