Welcome to Demo:listen, your weekly peek into the future of underground metal. Whether it’s death, grind, black, doom, sludge, heavy,  progressive, stoner, retro, post-, etc. we’re here to bring you the latest demos from the newest bands. On this week’s Demo:listen, we storm the city gates, astride mighty steeds, battle-tried swords held aloft, bearing the menacing standard of Athens’ Iniquity.

Iniquity

Lift your crests, ye sworn and loyal hordes. Indeed, Manowar have announced their farewell tour, but here come four metal warriors seemingly sent down from the golden firmament. Though for all their speed and rousing élan, they are mortals, sent not from the heavens, but from that venerable city, Athens of Hellas. They call themselves Iniquity and their arcane metal leaves Hermes exhausted and makes Achilles look like milquetoast. Theirs is an epic heavy/speed metal not simply “done right,” but executed with timeless skill and audacious aplomb–like soldiers charging into battle with neither shields or armor. Not to mention, it’s vegan friendly. For you won’t find a single shred of cheese on Iniquity’s demo. Hark! True metal has arrived!

Demo 2016 by Iniquity

Along with mainstream heavy metal, we grew up with bands such as Brocas Helm, Manilla Road, Savage Grace and stuff like this,” says Petros, Iniquity’s low-end man. “We are just heavy metal fans and our songs come spontaneously when we start composing music.” The three songs that make up Demo 2016 definitely burst and burn with the kind of spontaneity that comes from a lifetime of devout heavy metal worship. At the same time, they’re composed and performed by clearly seasoned metallions. According to Petros, members of Iniquity also played and play in bands such as “Sacral Rage, Execute, Purifleyethon, Convixion,” just to name a few. So it’s no wonder then that these songs are tighter than the lips of Odysseus’ men inside the Trojan Horse. Plus there’s a Witchkiller cover.

Iniquity’s Demo 2016 is available for download on their Bandcamp page, but if you’re after the true listening experience you’ll want to snag yourself a tape. Better act fast, though, because they are but 100 and they will surely not last.

You heard it here first on Demo:listen. Be here next and every Friday for promising new metal.

Fozzy comes back to Baltimore and brings the rock, the roll and David Arquette.

Chris Jericho and Fozzy always bring a great show with them , this time they had The Nocturnal Affair and Seventh Day Slumber along for the ride .

The Nocturnal Affair is a fun band to watch. A little mix of Dark Goth Rock and alternative industrial is how to explain them. Singer Brendan Shane is a great frontman and knows how to rock out the crowd.

This was my first time seeing Seventh Day Slumber and they didn’t disappoint. The band puts on a great show and singer Joseph Rojas is not only an amazing singer but just an all around great guy. The band has been around since the late 90s and still just puts on an amazing show.

Fozzy was next and the crowd was chanting “Fozzy,Fozzy” all night long. Part rock n roll crowd part wrestling crowd, the fans were ready for experience the “Walls of Jericho”. This band is always fun. The whole band just rocks the whole stage and you can tell that they are having fun. Jericho is a natural born entertainer and just oozes charisma all over the stage.

Billy Grey and Rich Ward are a hoot to watch. Both have so much energy and are bouncing all over the stage , rich even gives PJ a few smooches now and then, and when they rock that guitar solos it’s insane. I love watching the crowd and the little kids who are at the show just enjoying watching  “The Ayatollah of Rock ’N’ Rolla”, with songs like “Drinking with Jesus” and “Judas” the fans go insane.

As I mentioned in the opening statement, as we were leaving the venue after the show, the former WCW Heavyweight Champion David Arquette was coming into the venue to talk to Jericho. David was in town for monstermania horror con weekend and stopped in get a glimpse of Fozzy.
