DISTURBED frontman David Draiman was interviewed by “The Morning Blaze With Gus & Izzy” show on the Fresno radio station 105.1 The Blaze at this past weekend’s Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On how his son, Samuel, who was born in September 2013, gets along with his three dogs (an Akita and two Chihuahua mixes):

Draiman: “My son has, like, a love-hate relationship with our pets. He loves everybody else’s dogs more than ours, for whatever reason. Sometimes he gets annoyed by them, he gets jealous when my wife gives them too much attention — things like that. But then again, he’ll have these tremendous bonding moments with them on more than an occasion, which are just super sweet. When you’re dealing with a three-year-old, it’s never a consistent thing when it comes to that.”

On his favorite qualities about his son:

Draiman: “He’s tenacious, like both me and his mother; stubborn, like both me and his mother. He’s super affectionate and sweet. He’s the happiest little boy. He’s always smiling, he’s always lighting up the room. Thank God. We’re really blessed.”

On whether he would ever allow his son to get into the music industry if he wanted to:

Draiman: “I would allow him to do whatever he wants. I always feel it’s not a parent’s role to either allow or to deny, but merely to guide. So whatever makes him happy. I would strongly suggest he not go that route, just because it’s a very difficult road to travel. But whatever brings him meaning in life.”

Last year’s release of “Immortalized” ended DISTURBED‘s nearly four-year hiatus, during which Draiman spent time with his wife, model/wrestler Lena Yada, and their son.

Although Draiman‘s son was born healthy, David‘s then-project DEVICE canceled all its tour dates so that the singer could be close to home after his wife began having complications with the pregnancy.
