There’s a lot that goes into making a concert amazing, the lights, the instruments and the musicians are just to name a few of the main things. However, concerts are always ten
times better when you have a high amount of energy to keep the concert moving and to get the musicians even more hyped. This is a huge part that the crowd plays in any concert, but the even bigger responsibility is to the opening acts, because it’s their job to get the crowd to that certain level of energy. Let’s take a look at the opening acts for the Fit for a King and In Hearts Wake as they performed at The Rex Theater in Pittsburgh this past Thursday Night.

First we have Phinehas, a metal band from Los Angeles, California. Made up of
members Sean McCulloch (vocals), Daniel Gailey (Guitar), Bryan Kelley (Bass), and Lee
Humerian (Drums)
kicked off the show with several new songs off their new album, Dark Flag, which was released the past weekend. McCulloch kept the energy high for the entire set, head banging and all, getting the crowd prepared for the next opener.

Like Moths to Flames, A heavy metal band from Columbus, Ohio, Like Moths to Flames is a little more well known, but just as equally energetic. With their fourth album Dark Divine being released just this year, the band has already accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. Playing songs off the new album and others as well, lead vocalist Chris Roetter made sure that he kept the energy high along with his other bandmates Jeremy Smith (Guitar), Aaron Evans (Bass),
and Greg Diamond (Drums)
. The energy escalated from head banging, to fist pumping, and even reached crowd surfing after a certain point. I think it’s safe to say that these two bands held their own in their responsibilities in getting the crowd excited for the headlining acts, and here’s hoping that at some point in the near future, they will have opening acts of their owns.
